Speech and Language Therapy for Adults

Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership

Welcome to Adult Services

We are a team of qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) who assess and treat adults with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties in a variety of settings across Aberdeen City.

There are varying routes to access our Services. If you are an in-patient it is likely that you will be referred by other members of the team on the ward. If you live at home or in a care home you may be able to refer yourself or be referred by a family member (communication difficulties only). You can also be referred by your GP, other Health Professionals or Carers, this is necessary if you are experiencing swallowing difficulties.

Speech and Language Therapists have access to interpreters which allows us to meet the needs of people referred to us for whom English is not their first language, including British Sign Language. We can arrange an interpreter for an in-person appointment or for a phone call.

If your query relates to someone with voice changes (e.g. hoarseness) a referral to ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) may be needed in the first instance.
